Te Living Ranch in nestled in the SiuslawNational Forest on the Smith River. We maintain 276 acres of land with grazing pastures and dense forest land. We are 30 miles from the nearest town and subsist throughout the year. Donald and Dawn Merila run The Living-Ranch. Donald has many years of experience in logging industry as well as his experience in ministry for the past 20 years.
Our Ministry started in Kodiak, Alaska where we worked on the streets for 10 years before coming to The Living Ranch on the Smith River. Our ministry was called The Living-Room Ministry and was a "faith based community" outreach (street ministry). Along with the "street ministry" we also ran a "Regeneration Center" housing people who were recovering from alcohol and drug addiction. The Living-Room also hosted a weekly radio program reaching the Villages of Kodiak and outlining areas. We received the Alaskan Gold Star Award from the state of Alaska in 2004 for our service to Alaskan Families. We worked with all branches of the Alaska State Government and also with the Federal Government on many cases involving our clients. We have extensive experience with working with the legal system both adult and juvenile.
